Reduce Pain

Neuromuscular Massage

Do you need to:

  • Reduce pain and soreness in your muscles?
  • Increase your range of motion and flexibility?

Have you experienced an injury?

  • Help your muscles return to a more normal state of functioning.

Neuromuscular Massage (NMT) is a thorough program of recovery from acute and chronic pain syndromes which utilizes specific massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care to eliminate the causes of many muscular pain patterns. This specific and scientific approach to muscular pain relief will help to bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. Neuromuscular Massage enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers. It can be part of a comprehensive program, complementing all other health care modalities.

What can I expect at an appointment?

Neuromuscular Massage may require your participation for stretching and muscle movement during the session.  We will be using a pain scale, ranging from 1-10, in which we will be working within your pain tolerance.  You may need to ice the area after the massage.

"Brian has all of the skills of a quality massage therapist.  As a clinician, he has a wonderful grasp of anatomy and biomechanics, and has worked well with our athletic trainers and physicians in managing several muscle injuries.

"I had an issue with my knees that needed to be treated, in part by deep tissue massage of specific muscles.  After the initial massage around my knees I realized how valuable this would be for my entire body.  So far, the focus has been on my legs which feel incredible all the time as a result.  Also, my doctor informed me that I was probably on the verge of developing plantar fasciitis.  Brian agreed with that assessment.  Thanks to his work, that is no longer a concern.
